Een kip van imitatiestof

1. Print and cut out the template for the hen, available as a separate PDF file. Draw two hens onto imitation fabric.

2. Cut them out and squeeze them tighly in order to give the finished hen a ruffled look.

3. Use the same template and draw two hens from recycled card. NB: do not cut out the heart.

4. Assemble the four parts. The imitation fabric should be the outer layer on both sides (the card in the middle). Use a screw punch for making holes all the way along the edge at a 3cm distance between each hole.

5. Tie a piece of natural hemp in each hole and finish with two knots, holding the four layers firmly together. Leave the last two holes at the bottom and follow the instructions below. Finish by trimming the pieces of tied-on natural hemp.

6. Squeeze very small pieces of imitation fabric and stuff the hen with these as many or as few as you like.

7. Shorten a stub wire and bend it until it has the correct size for fitting inside the hen. The two wire ends are the hen's “feet”. to be used for mounting the hen onto a stand. Use a hammer for making holes (using the stub wire ends) in the wooden birch disc. Insert the wire ends in the wooden disc and the hen onto the bent wire.
