#v16368

When children make self-portraits, these often turn into beautiful, shrewd, funny and at times poetic small pieces of work. These portraits are made by Y3 pupils from Frederiksberg. 1   Cut a piece of watercolour paper in half lengthwise. This provides an excellent format for the portraits.
2   Let the pupils draw themselves in pencil.
3   Then draw the portrait with a black Edding markers, (copying the pencil line).
4   Colour-in the portrait with liquid watercolours. If the pupils work wet-on-wet, they can experiment with colour mixing and effects.
5   Let the watercolour paint dry.
6   Laminate the portraits.
7   The portraits can also be cut out and put on milk cartons - either for exhibition in tableaux or for role-playing games in class.
