1.   Place a lightly pressed plant part; i.e. a flower or a leaf, onto the egg. Put the egg inside a nylon stocking and tie a knot. You may also tie a piece of string or rubber band around the egg to make sure that the plant part will stay in place (and it will also add a batik effect).

2.   Dab Silk Royal colour around the contour of the plant part. Allow to dry.

3.   Pour approx. 500 ml boiling water into a clean jam jar. Pour 2 tsp ordinary household vinegar into the water and 5-10 drops of Silk Royal colour (or according to the desired colour strength).

4.   Place the wrapped egg into the colour mixture and put a heavy object (eg: a small deep bowl) on top for a lid to keep the egg down in the mixture. Leave the egg to soak in the mixture for approx. 20-30 minutes.

5.   Unwrap the egg from the nylon stocking and remove the plant part.

6.   For a shiny surface: apply a coat of glossy acrylic lacquer to the egg.
