    How to do it

    1
Use a complete 50 x 40 cm piece of fine rattan. Smooth it out by ironing it underneath a damp tea towel. Draw sections on the rattan for weaving and for tassels using a pencil and a ruler. Cut many pieces of 25 cm (long) raffia paper yarn. Fill the section with tassels by threading raffia paper yarn onto a yarn needle and sewing them onto every other hole in the rattan. Sew from the front to the back and then back to the front in the same hole. Make a loop and feed the ends through the loop. Tighten the knot. Stagger the rows of the tassel so that they cover the background of the wall hanging decoration.

Sew the raffia paper yarn onto the rattan with tacking stitches and weave faux leather paper star strips through the raffia paper yarn stitches. Sew the stitches over four holes on the front and under two holes on the back. Make two rows next to each other with one row of hole in between as shown in the photo.

Cut one end of the faux leather paper star strips at an angle to fit through the raffia paper yarn stitches. Weave the faux leather paper star strips underneath the paper raffia stitches. Trim the end square once the strips are woven in place and are the correct length.

Cut a 60 cm piece of faux leather paper (at full width). Fold over 6 cm at the top, forming the casing for the stick. Make 2 mm holes with 2 cm between each hole through both layers of paper using a screw punch. Begin approx. 1 cm from the edge. Make holes at the bottom of the faux leather paper as well.
